Two baptisms 1750 & 1755; but when did parents marry?
« on: Monday 16 June 14 22:49 BST (UK) »
Hi, Can anybody help?

I have the following two baptisms:
2nd November 1750 at Sweetenham Mary Audley; Father John Audley ; Mother Martha; Abode Lower Withington

8th June 1755 at Chelford; Martha Audley; Father (not stated); Mother Martha Audley a widow; Abode Lower Withington

My interpretation of the above is that both the above baptisms are of the same family.
Can anybody help me  identify:
When and where John Audley married Martha?
When and where John Audley died?
What happened to the two children?

I know no other information about this family but I do know that:
a Martha Adley was baptised at Capesthorne (Siddington) in 1790
another Martha Adley was baptised at Capesthorne (Siddington) in 1820
yet another Martha Adley was baptised at Capesthorne (Siddington) in 1840

The surname Audley appears to have been spelt Adley at Capesthorne (Siddington) and I am hoping that the Martha baptised in 1755 is an ancestor of the above three Marthas

Thanks in anticipation of your help
Regards
Brian Audley

There is a John Eadley marrying Martha Barnes 29/10/1749 in Prestbury. This may be the same people but a misspelling of the name.
Could the family have moved to Barthomley? There are children being baptised there to a John up to his death in 1754.

Hi Tom,
Please accept my apologies for not replying earlier.  I will investigate further the possibility that John Eadley and Martha Barnes are the couple I am after. I also believe there are a number of Audley references at Barthomley I will investigate them as well.
Many thanks for your suggestions.
