Mary Roberts

Searching for the birthplace of Mary Roberts, aged 4 in 1841 census, so born 1837 (she doesn't figure in my 1836 PR photocopies) possibly Llanllechidd or Llandygai, parents Henry Roberts and Elizabeth Roberts Have searched FindMyPast and IGI, but no trace. Is it possible she may not baptised - although rest of family appear to have been - or missed off transcription. Cross checking with other searches have found this when I check PRs. HELP.
Roberts, Caernarfon. Thomas, Caernarfon. Kite, Kent.

Hello Quarryman,

The PRs for Llanllechid are on Freereg http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl

There are quite a few baptism entries for Mary Roberts born c1837 but I cannot see one that fits with the person you are looking for.

The Genuki page indicates that there were many non conformist chapels and churches there. Have you considered she was baptised in one of those?

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CAE/Llanllechid/index.html#ChurchRecords

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CAE/Llanllechid/

I wondered if you had found her in a later census, the 1851 perhaps? This would give you a better idea of where she was born, so more information on where to search exactly.

I did find a Mary Roberts in the 1851 in Llanllechid, age 15, a servant in the household of William Thomas Dudley, age 59. She was shown as born Llandegai.

Jo.

Hi Quarryman,

It is possible that Mary could have been baptised but with a non-conformist baptism which will not show up in PR's.

I have families in my tree which have the older children having an Anglican baptism and therefore appear in the PR but the younger ones were baptised as non-conformists, especially around the 1830-1850's. For non-conformist records of Llandegai or Llanllechid it may be worth contacting Bangor University (UCNW) archives as I believe they do hold some non-conformist records for the local area.

Ancestry is showing a match for your names and 1837 birth date for a birth in Millbrook, Bedfordshire. This seems a bit far out for what you have posted, but thought I'd mention it.
