Hi and welcome to Rootschat.

Did he marry in Surrey? Marriage cert hopefully will give fathers name.

But otherwise, if he was born in Scotland, you would be best looking for his birth there (I believe the site to use is Scotlandspeople) to find his parents as first step back.
For proper advise on Scotland research, probably best if a Mod moves this to a Scottish Board, so those with appropiate knowledge see it.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Yes thank you Rosie this is the one; I found the transcript of the marriage and he was recorded as a soldier in the Royal Palaces; his younger  brother Donald (my GGrandfather) was said to be in the Scots Guards which we have a photo of and probably followed his brother into the regiment, it makes sense as the old Guards depot was at Caterham in Surrey at this time. George was on the 1911 census and all the sons share a name with his father Peter, Grandfather Alexander and great Grandfather Kenneth who came from Isle of Lewis. George's daughter Christina appears to be named after George's younger sister who died at just five years old around 1885. Georges other brother moved to Canada and his grandson settled in Vancouver.

Hi My Grandfather was Harold Peter Frederick Mackay (b 26-3-1894). He was in the Royal Navy.  He married Ethel Russell and had three daughters, Christina (my mother), Lilian and one who died in childhood.  Christina (b 24-11-1920) married Ronald Harold George Cook (my father) (b 27-3-1918).  They had two offspring.  The rest of us are alive and contactable.  Any interest?

Hi Donnie,  I think you recent message may have been edited.  I have photograph albums of my grandfathers exploits on cruises to the far east between the wars and of his family (sisters, nieces and at a guess parents).  We are currently in West Lothian having travelled via Sussex, Northern Ireland).
