hi ope im doing this right first of all so sorry

Hello,

if you mean trying to find out family history, you're on the right track and in the right place for people to help and advise you.
We have suggested some things already - what do you think?
Do you have any further names or details that may help to trace your family.
You may have to spend some money on certificates or copies - you can get photocopies of Irish births, marriages and deaths or 4 euros.
We can post details re this if you wish to go that way.

Hello everyone,
I'm just posting this for Mochdre1

Hi so sorry to take so long to get back I'm not very good on computers.
You were right they are the right people.
My grandad mother's name was Mary Catherine Roche (maiden Byrne) and his father's was James Roche.
My nan's mum's name was Bridget Byrne, maiden MC Donald and father's name was Denis Byrne. These would be my great grandparents.
My great great great grandmother's name was Sarah McDonald. I found these names through some links I have been sent.
I would like to find both lines of family for my uncle but didn't have much on the Roche side.
Ggdad I know he was 30 and a seaman in the 1911 census. Mum seems to think he was from Wicklow town.
thank you so much

So far then:

1911 census for James and Mary Catherine Roche with Denis and Bridget Byrne
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wicklow/Wicklow_Urban/Strand_Street_Lower/898946/

1901 census, Denis and Bridget Byrne with Sarah McDonald plus 3 children
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Wicklow/Wicklow_Town/Strand_Street_Lower/1817880/

Dathai posted re this site http://www.irishmariners.ie. with details of James Roche.

I can't see a James Roche in 1901 in Wicklow town. There are possibilities elsewhere. The marriage record may show his father's name.

Re Susan Carr mentioned in the starting message, I might have something on her. I did some research on a branch of a Wicklow Carr family a couple of years ago. The person I was researching was a Thomas Carr, but I know he had a brother Alex Carr who had a daughter Susan, don't know who Alex married but they lived on a farm in Ballycullen, about 3 miles from Wicklow town. If this is the same Susan, I would expect there would be a boy called  Alex in the Roche family?. If we can establish we are looking at the same Susan Carr, I can fill you in on her grandparents etc.
Margaret

Have since found out that Susan Carr daughter of the Alex Carr I mentioned in previous message is the Susan that married Patrick Roche, so if I can fill in some information on Susan's family for you let me know.

Some Roche births recorded in Rathdrum District between 1911 and 1921 mothers maiden name Byrne.
John Roche 25 Sep 1913
Patrick 16 Feb 1916
Sarah 30 Jan 1921

Denis and James ROACH 1st Jan 1919 mothers name Byrne also Rathdrum
not saying these are definite children but their names tie in with the family.
