Ilkeston Parish records Marriage 1824

I am wondering if  there anyone who has access to marriage records for Ilkeston in 1824? I live in South Australia and am trying to find out about a family  who ultimately migrated to Adelaide. Before they came they lived in London but the parents were married in Ilkeston in 1824.

Thomas Johnson Burden m Maria Latham 26 April 1824

From the 1851 Census I know that Thomas was born in Preston Lancashire and I would like to know if Maria was from Ilkeston. She was dead by 1851 and the 1841 census merely indicates she was born outside London (Surrey).

Any information would be most welcome.

Derbyshire Record Office have a printed transcript of the parish registers of Ilkeston.  If you ask them very nicely they may do a lookup for you.  You can e-mail them at

There are some trees on Ancestry which give Maria's birthplace as Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire, in 1801.

Waltham is approx 30 miles away.

Family search has two baptism records - 14 October 1801 and 17 December 1799.

The nearest geographical marriage is Henry to Mary Wortley in Nottingham in 1797, which is also in the trees.

In 1851, Mary, born in Nottingham, is a widow in Sandbach, Cheshire, with a daughter, Margaret, born in Waltham.

Thanks David for all that information and for putting me on the right track. It never ceases to amaze me how people "out there" are so often instrumental in breaking down walls--metaphorically speaking. Will get onto the Family Search to find children and will look at Ancestry. How I missed it I don't know but recently have been having difficulties with Ancestry and also with our own phone line. Too much rain they say!! \
