*COMPLETED* Marriage record for John & Eliz. Dickinson c 1807
« on: Thursday 26 June 14 20:01 BST (UK) »
My g g g grandfather was born in Barnsley about 1785. I have an insurance record for him working at (and living in, I believe) a building at 5 Church Passage, Guildhall Yard, King St, Cheapside dated 14 August 1806.
His wife was Elizabeth, born about 1788 in Stratford, Essex and died c 1863 in London.
Their children, the first was born 1809, were baptised beginning 1811 at St Lawrence Jewry.
*
Where and when were John and Elizabeth married?
*
I tried this in Middlesex/London with no success. A suggestion came that perhaps they married in Essex and specifically West Ham All Saints. Could anybody help please.
*
Any help or leads will be much appreciated. This John is NOT the Stationer 1782-1869.
Thanks
Richard

The first child I've found was Emma Catherine born 21st Feb 1809. The only name I see that might give a clue is their only son, Robert LAYCOCK Dickinson born 1814.
*
There were four daughters - Emma Catherine, Eliza b 1810, Maria b 1813 and Louisa b 1818 - and the one son Robert.

Minerva Ayres appears to be a sister of Elizabeth, she was also a minor when she married John Walter Upward of St. Benets Fink in London on 9th March, 1813 by licence. also at All Saints.witnesses were James, Ann and Maria Ayres.

Terrific! Thank you Sue and Mark.

I shall add the details to my Ancestry tree asap and see what else I can find.

My query was so quickly solved that I may be tempted to post more.

Richard

While we Suffolk & Essex folk would like to take all of the credit; much must go to Essex Records Office for making so much information available online.

Great! It appears that Elizabeth Dickinson née Ayres was the daughter of James & Elizabeth née DICKINS.
Well fancy that!
