John McLean {Maclean}
« on: Saturday 28 June 14 09:13 BST (UK) »
Would there be anyone that could help me find information concerning John Mclean born 1811 in Kiltearn, Rossshire. He married Isabella Ross in August 1838 using the spelling {MacLean}. In the 1851 Scotland census he is a Mill Wright and has 3 sons Andrew, Murdock, and John. I also have the 1861 cenus but John seems to me to disappear after this census. Murdock { Murdo } came to NZ but I do not know what happened to the other sons after 1861.

Any information would be helpful.
Cheers,

It sounds like your John McLean is fairly recent traceable forward and you might have close MacLean male relatives you can find to take a Big Y test?  It's just a suggestion, depending on how much you want to trace back that line.  The Clan MacLean DNA project can help you figure out who to test and what test to take.  Write to macleandnaproject at gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about what this would and would not do to help with your research.
