I've started researching the Edward BAILEY ( 1789-1870 ) family.. several generations of butchers in Peel. It's strange to start from way back and work your way forward! I'm gleaning as much information as possible from the censuses, and from other family trees (taken with a grain of salt, of course!) After Edward 1789, the next butcher in the family was his son Edward ( 1817-1873 ), then Edward 1817's son Alfred ( b1852 ). This is as far as I've gone at this point.
Funny thing to note is that between 1881 & 1891, Alfred (1852) & his family decided to give themselves middle names! I don't know whether it was done legally, or whether they just did it themselves.
May I ask for the following lookups? (And by the way, I do plan to buy some CDs as mentioned by Frances. I would like to be able to help other people with their lookups too.)
German marriages:
Edward BAILEY to Mary Margaret CORKILL approx 1843-44
Alfred BAILEY to Christian WATTERSON approx 1872-73
German MIs:
Edward BAILEY who died 1873
Edward's wife Mary Margaret who died 1846
Alfred Hugh BAILEY who died sometime after the 1911 census**
Christian Ann BAILEY who died sometime after the 1911 census**
**if it's too time consuming to look these up, don't bother! I'll wait to see if more information turns up.
Many thanks. Carol
