John Reed & Hester McKeon
« on: Tuesday 01 July 14 14:12 BST (UK) »
Seeking information on John Reed (Reid) and Hester McKeon of Birr, Offaly, Ireland.  John Reed was born ca. 1770.  They had two known children, John Reid (1797-1872) and Edward Reid b. ca. 1806.  Their son John Reid (my ancestor) was a Sergeant of the 48th Regiment of Foot and saw service in Ireland, Isle of Man, England, Australia and India.  Any information on John Reed and Hester McKeon would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Oboran,

I am also related to John Reid and have been trying to do some research to figure out his parents. I did read that you are an ancestor to John Reid and knew information about him along with having a picture. Is there any way that I could receive that information? Any information you know about him would be greatly appreciated. I have a picture of the son John Reid, but I am trying to figure out more information about his parents and Edward. Thanks so much!

Very glad to hear from you.  I had the photo of John Reid posted on RootsChat.Com but it seems to have been taken down.  I believe that best way to exchange information is via my email: (*).
I will he happy to share any information I have with you.

Thank you so much for that link.  I confess I do not know how to navigate around RootsChat as well as I should, and like most men, I hate to ask directions.

Hello Oboran,

There is a search box at the top of RootsChat, so if you type "John Reed" all posts containing the words "john reed" will come up. You can also click on profile, summery and then if you look left you will see "email notifications" if you click on this it will show you all your topics.

Regards

Sarah :)

Thanks for the guidance.  I am slowly learning.  I confess I have not used RootsChat as often as I could or should, but perhaps that will now change.  Great group!
