Harriet ann micklefield and GHS Scatcherd.
« on: Thursday 17 July 14 12:59 BST (UK) »
Hi I have these two's marriage in 1877. then GHS Scatcherd is living with Fanny Crawford and they have 3 children, then Fanny dies in Durham in 1905 ish and GHS Scatcherd marries Ethel McGhan in Durham in 1907 ish and he dies in 1911.
I can not find a marriage for George and Fanny, was he still married to Harriet, I cannot find what happened to Harriet did she re marry? I am fairly certain George and Harriet had a daughter who is living with the Grandmother in the 1801 census. I have certificates for two marriages. I have searched for a couple of years for these missing pieces.

Sounds complicated  :)

On the second marriage certificate is GHS down as a widower?
Is his father's name the same on both certificates?

When is he with Fanny and 3 children - on a census?

What is the name of the grandmother/granddaughter?

These details will help.

One family tree has him in prison in 1881.  Was he born Rotherham?

Hi,

On Marriage Certificates is his Father named as Henry Scatcherd?

If so he appears in the:-

West Yorkshire, England, Reformatory School Records, 1856-1914 forGeorge Henry Scatcherd
on Ancestry.  Admitted 21st April 1871, states born Rotherham.  There is a small head shot of
him, also states Mother Louisa, Grandfather Henry Scatcherd born Ollerton, Nr. Worksop Notts.
living Bradford.

You need to give details of what you have, census etc.

Found the marriage to Harriet 17 Oct 1877.  His father Henry Scott Scatcherd plumber.

George is 20 Harriet is 19.  Her father Benjamin.

The 1881 prison census shows Henry 23 married born Rotherham 1858.  Occupation shovel maker which I think is what it says on the marriage certificate.

Hi,

Sure that the George Henry Scatcherd in the Reform school is your George.  Father's Occupation
is given as Plumber.

Still not sure which census you have found George HS S, have you found him with Harriet?  If so
can you give details please.
