Dear RootsChat Team

Please can you help ref Carmarthenshire Parish Records - Jones & Powell families

Please may I ask if anyone of you have access to Carmarthenshire Parish Records for births, marriages, deaths and burials (plus Church records too of course).... for any of the following villages (below), if so please do get in touch as I would very much like to check and see if there are some entries for a number of families hiding within the records - mainly Jones and Powell families.

I look forward to hearing from you.
My best wishes

Parish records are not of births & deaths, but of baptisms, marriages & burials. What period are you looking for? You can check what has been transcribed for FreeReg here

 http://www.freereg.org.uk/parishes/cmn.htm

If you check the parishes on Genuki & see what survives & where it is kept.

You can search here for access to scans of registers

Jed Stu

Very interested in your interests in Powell and Jones names as they are also on my Welsh Family tree. Edward Jones married Anne Powell in 1868, Llandovery.
Giulia.

My Welsh Powell/Jones/Evans/Lloyd families migrated from Laugharne/Llandovery and Llanstephan areas to Leicestershire in the late 1890s. They were farmers.
Back in Wales the Powell parents farmed Cefnetrenfa, Cilycwm, Carms having moved there from the Laugharne area around 1851.
The Evans parents farmed Ffynnonseiri, Llangynog, Carms.
The Lloyd parents continued to farm Glog, Llangain near Llanstephan.
Of the Jones family, not too sure but believe them to be David Jones and Ann nee Edwards farming
BwlchCymanfa, Cilycwm, Llandovery in 1881. I have many details on all these ancestors of mine, but many more questions as yet unanswered.
Giulia.

My great, great, great grandfather was Edward Jones attorney of Llandovery, died 1840, there appears to be connections with the Powell families.I was raised in Llandovery and know the area well.

If you subscribe to Ancestry the Carmarthenshire parish records are now here

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/62102/

You select the Parish then select the BMB range you want. Very early records are under “Mixed”. Some of it is indexed and so will come up in searches, a lot of the early stuff isn’t and you just have to be patient and scroll through them.

Findmypast and other sites do similar. The indexing on Findmypast is more comprehensive and searching is easier on there.
