Finding a grave
« on: Monday 21 July 14 15:28 BST (UK) »
Hi    Can anyone advise me how you obtain a grave number for an ancestor.  I know my grandmother  Ethel Lily Hope is buried in Bosbury grave yard but dont know exactly where. My dad's family were quite poor so it's unmarked.
Thanks

There's a map here of the graveyard but you'd need to know a grave number to find where your relations are buried: -

Thanks for your replies. I think its the same web site that I came across today but unfortunately they are in unmarked graves. So it doesnt give their grave numbers. Just my luck to have poor ancestors  ::) I wonder if Hereford records office would have them

I had a look at the record office catalogue & holdings for the church, the burial register they hold ends at 1917.

If you haven't done so already (as thispost is a few weeks old now) you may need to contact the church directly for more informtion, it looks like the current register isn't full or hasn't yet been deposited for safe-keeping.

You could try the Hereford bereavement services at this address

 bereavement@herefordshire.gov.uk

I found my relatives grave information from a similar service in Hampshire, you might get lucky.

Many thanks Bowman.
I have emailed the church but not sure if I'll hear anything. Will give it a go anyway.
