Descendants of THOMAS O'HEHIR, IRELAND
« on: Sunday 27 July 14 13:26 BST (UK) »
Hello, Thomas O'Hehir, born Dromod, Bodyke, Ireland, was brother of Michael Francis O'Hehir born 1862, my great grandfather who emigrated to Australia and changed his name to O'Hare, (married Eliza Cornish from Perranarworthal, Cornwall). Their parents were Michael O'Hehir and Bridget O'Brien, that is all I know of them. Their other siblings were John and Ellen. Thomas married Mary Ann McInerney, they had 9 daughters and 3 sons, some remained in Ireland. I am interested in finding any descendants of these children, who may have knowledge of the O'Hehir family history.
Thank you

If you haven't already done so, a good way to make surname connections with other members is to enter your surname interests in the Surname Interests Table (SIT), and to check there whether others are researching these names.

This can be found at http://surname.rootschat.com/ , there is a link to it under "Your Tools" at the bottom of each Rootschat page.

The more people who enter their surnames, the more chance there will be of making a connection!

In the meantime, I will move this thread to the Clare board. ;)

My mother was one of the nine daughters of Thomas Hehir of Dromod Bodyke. She married my father Martin Wallace and lived in England.I am a retired doctor.During my childhood I spent many holidays in the Hehir family house in Dromod and have met at least 7 of my mothers sisters and 2 of the 3 brothers.
I can give you more details if you are interested.

I am Beryl Eileen Worsley. My grandfather is Arthur Francis O'Hare. My great-grandfather is Michael Francis O'Hare (Hehir) of Dromod, Bodyke, County Clare, born 5 October 1860 (I believe). I would like to know when my great-grandfather Michael Francis O'Hare migrated to Australia. I've been reading about the Bodyke evictions in 1880 when tenants were evicted from their land because of unpaid rent and wonder if that may have been why he migrated.

Hello

Here’s the family in the 1901 census, where Hehir has been mistranscribed as Heher:-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Clare/Boherglass/Dromod/1084905/

Ten years later in the 1911 census, with spelling Hehir:-

Here is a baptism for Ml Hehir, 5th October 1860 with parents Ml and Ju Nash if Drommod.

I am not sure this fits with the names given here though.
