On first glance, no there is nothing on the death registrations - will see if he left a will though as that will give us it.

Thomas Hughes *might* be Thomas Lewis Hughes born 6 March 1930, died May 1989 in Cleveland (3/2498)

There are that many Thomas Hughes' born 1930 it might be difficult to pin him down but he is the only one I can find the north east area

Can't add anything to what you have for Peter McKeown for the minute, nor Wilfred Harry Hellings or Kenneth Rusk.

There's a marriage in 1934 for Harry McBurney in Guisborough in 1934 to a Mallin but nothing more.  That could give a rough idea of age.

Extreme challenge now.

William "Bill" Jeffs was a Whitby legendary player and Manager.

He died post 2007 (date unknown) and was born according to rumours in 1931 but I cannot find him in freebmd.

It does appear to be Thomas Lewis Hughes. On freebmd it shows his mother as Williams and Felix Hughes married Olwyn Williams in 1929 :)

George T Welford (nicknamed Notchy)
began playing for WTFC in 1931 (going on the basis that he was minimum of 17 that puts a DOB at about pre 1913. He was born in Whitby.
D. unknown but I think (will have to trawl though about 3 documents) he died after 1960.

I suspect that Manchester would have been a fair way out of way for a player in that era, most of the players before WWII were local to the North East.
