O'CONNOR marriage approx 1886
« on: Wednesday 30 July 14 11:40 BST (UK) »
PATRICK O'CONNOR was shown to be married to MARY ? (on the 1911 Dublin census). Their marriage date works out to be 1885 ish in Co Meath. The census also shows a daughter MARGARET b. Co Meath approx. 1887. Is anyone following this family or know where I can get proof of their marriage and of Margaret's birth....and of possible other children? I have found what is possibly the same family on the 1901 census (showing more children born in Co Meath) but I would like to get research from Co Meath if possible. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

Thank you
Sean Brown

You can look for Margaret's birth here
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Here you will find the districts to search under
http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Ireland-civil-registration.html

It depends on how many results you get but if you hit on the right one you can send for the cert and find her mothers name, than using the same method find the marriage. For that you will be looking for a match for each name in the same district page number and vol number.

They may not be using the O at the time so don't dismiss Connor on its own.

Church Registers surviving dates would vary from parish to parish and at this stage you don't know which parish.
Is this the family in 1901
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003803717/
Address 104 Lower Clanbrassil St.
They have a daughter Mary age 2

Here is a birth of a Mary Ann O'Connor at the same address in Feb 1898 to Patrick O'Connor and Mary Foley
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/82971c0017176
Age is a year out but looks good
And a Patrick, a few doors away at number 109 but allowing for the month born, the correct age
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/b091990016556

Mary Foley looks like a strong possibility for mother/wife.

RootsIreland gives a positive for a marriage for Patrick O'Connor and Mary Foley in Kilmessan in 1882
Kilmessan is in Dunshaughlin PLU
There is a marriage on FamilySearch
Patrick Connor
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FY71-LZR
And Mary Foley
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FY71-G4M

Can't find matching baptisms for Margaret and Bridget on RootsIreland.
FamilySearch show births in Dunshaughlin for a Margaret and Bridget but they are in the wrong order
Bridget in 1887 and Margaret 1889

Thanks for those two very interesting replies.... especially as Dunshauglin is in Co Meath....I will now try to use your info and see if we can progress. We do appreciate that Patrick and Mary and O'Connor are not the easiest of names to research.

And yes, it is the same family I believe on the 1901 census.

I will also look at that site for May Ann's birth....and Patrick's ....this site is all new to me and looks very promising......thanks for telling us about it.

cheers
