Thomas Crone of Aspatria
« on: Thursday 31 July 14 16:18 BST (UK) »
Hi!
Can anyone help with any of the following?

I have a Thomas Crone marrying Mary Kenaty on 9 June 1748 at Aspatria. From what I can gather they had a large family:

Sarah Crone baptised 22 March 1748 Asapatria (before marriage?)
William Crone 1749
William Crone 10 June 1750
John Crone 20 March 1752
Margaret Crone 18 December 1756
Thomas Crone 18 December 1756
Thomas Crone 26 January 1758
Thomas Crone 10 May 1759
George Crone 1763??
Joseph Crone 1765??
Anne Crone 26 December 1767
William Crone 20 December 1769

There is also the marriage of another Thomas Crone to Fanny Hind at Aspatria on 26 November 1748, and they had a son George Crone baptised 25 October 1749 at Asaptria

Don't know if there are any connections between the two Thomas Crones (maybe cousins or father and son?)

Mary Kenaty (sometimes spelt Kenety, Kennaty, Kinnity, Kennedy) I believe may be the daughter of a George Kenety who married Margaret Allison on 26 June 1711 at Aspatria. They had the following issue although as yet I cannot find a baptism for Mary:

Thomas Kenaty 24 August 1712
William Kenaty 24 January 1713
John Kenaty 1715
Ann Kenaty 1718
George Kenaty 8 June 1720
Christopher Kenaty 20 May 1722

Cannot find any other records at Aspatria or surrounding areas for the surname Crone/Cron/Kron/Croan(e), nor Kenaty/Kennaty/Kenity etc.

There is a Thomas Crow/Craw baptised at Cramond Midlothian Scotland 19 June 1726, son of a George Crow and Marion Hamilton but whether or not this could be Thomas Crone I am unsure.

Any help with any of the above very much appreciated! :D

Sarah Crone baptised 22 March 1748 Asapatria (before marriage?)

Until 1752, the last day of the legal year was 24th March, so this would actually have been 9 months after the 1748 marriage.  Church registers usually followed this system too.

Nowadays to avoid ambiguities, dates before Lady Day (25 March) in that era are often written as e.g. 22 March 1748/49
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Hi
My wife's family are descended from Thomas Crone through his son John (born 1752)
Thomas is listed at his children's baptism as being a waller then as an innkeeper.
The family move to Westnewton, then to Mawbray (Holm Cultram) and finally his great grandson moved to Maryport. Dan Crone set up a mens' outfitters business in Maryport and four of his children emigrated to Canada.
I can give you a lot more information about that branch of the family if you are interested.
I was pleased to see your summery because your list of children from Thomas is more extensive than mine!
I don't know about the other Thomas Crone
