« on: Friday 01 August 14 14:43 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have anything on Barbara Frances R Gateley, born 2nd quarter 1908 Edmonton, Middlesex.  Don't know parents, will be sending  for cert soon, but wondered if anyone had any clues?
she married in 1929 Birmingham, Died 1964.
I think she spent time in India mid 1920s?? but cannot find her in 1911 census or travel records.

Gleaning bits from old photo album, she may have sister Dorothy, father may have initials PT. She may have travelled on SS Mashobra.
lots of "may"s. Will be getting magnifier out to night see if I can decipher more scribbles!!

father may have initials PT.

If Dad is PT, I wonder whether he might be the Patrick Thomas Gateley who married Constance Sarah Annie Ravenscroft Scrivener, 16 Apr 1907, St Thomas (Free School) Church, Calcutta.

Patrick was 50, a widower, District Inspector E.I.R., residence Dinapore, father Patrick.

Constance was 31, a spinster, residence Calcutta, father Edgar Thomas Scrivener.

she may have sister Dorothy

There is a Dorothy Grace Gateley born in India in 1908 - parents Arthur and Katrina.

When Arthur married Katrina Adam in Dinapore in 1907 he was 23, an employee of East India Railway.  Father named as Patrick.

So Dorothy may be a granddaughter of Patrick Thomas Gateley, not a daughter.  Patrick Thomas had had several children with his first wife Grace (nee Matthews), who died at Khagole, Dinapore 11 March 1905 aged 57.

From the rear of a photo that I've managed to peel off it appears that Dorothy is Dorothy Sharp.
I have lots of names but little that "glue" them together in relationship.
for example
a photo of several people, titled Edgar Dad and Nora.
I can find Edward (father Patrick) b april 1909, and a death for Edgar b april 1909 died 1993 in Greece.
There's a Aunt Win, possibly Patricks daughter Winfred b.1882

I am the son of the Edgar Gateley who died in Greece in 1993. He had two sisters - Nora and Barbara - the former was childless, while the latter had just one daughter, also named Barbara. All three siblings lived in Birmingham, England after leaving India with their widowed mother Constance. My grandparents Patrick and Constance are definitely the individuals mentioned.
