Hilton Cullen marriage 1828-1830 westminister
« on: Sunday 03 August 14 12:36 BST (UK) »
Have noted a hilton and a separate cullen married in 1828 and again in 1830. Is there anyway to check to see if it was a marriage with John Cullen and Elizabeth Hilton. Have been down the garden paths for 10 years and still no sight of these two.  :)

Hi

Do you have this couple on census if so what information does it give on their year and place of birth and where were they living (the census reference would help us to see the record).  Where does the information that John Cullen married Elizabeth Hilton come from, could Elizabeth have been married previously.

We really need more information on the people you are looking for in order to help you.

I can't see a John Cullen marrying any Elizabeths in 1828 or +/- 10 years.  :-\

Entering just the surnames Cullen and Hilton into a couple of sites finds no results either.

Thank you Rosie and Ruskie.
John Cullen born 1837 Lincoln on his marriage Certificate in 1864 in Australia he gives Elizabeth Hilton as his mother and John Cullen as his father. My reckoning is he left England on The ship "Sunshine" arriving in Australia 1857. Having Married in 1864 these would be the names of his m+ f at that time. Genes Reunited have Cullen and Hilton and I thought it may be that the parents married there. Even though John came to Australia as a fare paying passenger and his occupation was farmer or agriculture I have been unable to link with a family over the last 10 years . The Great Gonerby Johns have been claimed to a family in US.
Would love to get some closure on this side of the family.

If John was born 1837 in Lincoln, how have you made the step (jump!) from that to the suggestion that his parents married 1828-1830 in Westminster?

Have you found a christening for John? Did he have older siblings? Have you looked in Lincoln area for the marriage?
