Fotheringham in STONEHAVEN, Longmoor, Lawson, Milne, Stephen

Has anyone information on ALEX FOTHERINGHAM
who lived in LINKS OF ARDUTHIE, Stonehaven late 1700's?
In Sept 1790 there was a public sale of deceased Alex Fotheringham's moveables.
But I can find no death record, and have no idea of how old he was.
His son is mentioned briefly as Alexander Fotheringham Younger his Son, Pupil
(cannot find a birth for him either) and lists 'Tutors' (advisers/executors?) appointed to this son:
John LONGMOOR tenant, Cowie; John LAWSON, Baker in Stonehaven;
David FOTHERINGHAM at Kirkland by Leven (he must be a relative in Fife?)
and John MILNE, Writer in Stonehaven.
This handwritten doc  goes on to list what was sold and to whom.
It includes 'victual of the growth' (crops?) of Boggatyhead (which I discovered was farming
land that overlooked Dunnottar Castle) bought by John STEPHEN.

I'm wondering who Alex Fotheringham's parents, brothers and sisters were,
because I have a Jane Fotheringham who had several sons by husband John STEPHEN
(maybe the same John Stephen named in the above doc) - they lived in Links of Arduthie
around the same time, but I do not know her origins despite searching for several years.
I suspect she was related to Alex....
