Taylor's Restaurant, Whitley Bay
« on: Friday 08 August 14 16:01 BST (UK) »
Hello

Does anyone have any knowledge of a Restaurant/Cafe in Whitley Bay called Taylors.  Apparently one of my relatives owned it.  They were Nicholas and Margaret Taylor.  I have looked on the Census for 1911, but nothing about a restaurant.  He was apparently a commercial traveller for a chocolate manufacturer.  However, that does not mean he didn't have a restaurant later on in life and looking at his probate record he had done very well for himself so I assume it is true.

Anyone know anything about the restaurant/cafe - and hopefully photos.

Thanks
Mo

Thank you so much for your assistance.

I have obviously got confused  ??? It must have been another member of the family who had the restaurant/cafe.

Never mind. I will keep looking.  I may be in touch again to check with you if that is ok.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello Mo - I have an interest in Nicholas Taylor. He was born in Cullercoats 1877 and started life in the Merchant Navy. He was the son of Charles Taylor who had a wet fish shop in Monkseaton. I have a photo (poor) of a memorial stone in Whitley Bay Cemetery. Named on it are Nich Taylor, Margaret Taylor, and daughter Gertie.
Do you know if my Nicholas and yours are the same person ?

Regards

Hi Rob

Yes, I believe it is.  They had a daughter called Gertrude so it must be them.

My interest is in his wife, Margaret.  She was called Margaret Parker and she was the sister of my GG grandad.

I know nothing more.  There was a rumour they had a Cafe in Whitley Bay (my grandmother's childhood memory), but I can't find any evidence of this.
