However, I think the Thomas Hornsby who died in 1876 was  Thomas  Hornsby senior. The GRO death index has him as 57 and not 47 (so b.c. 1819). The remainder of the newspaper clip says: " Deceased expired suddenly,.....He was for many years boots and driver at the Royal Hotel. "  (see Welsh Newspapers online). I note that Thomas' jnr's father was down as an Ostler which fits.
I think I saw Ann(b.1866) in Oldham in 1881 as Anny,  a boarder, b. Wales.

You are correct.
By 1881 Annie has moved to Oldham and in 1886 she marries Joshua W Hilton .

Mary Corbett could be from almost anywhere,Shropshire and Cheshire or even further afield. If she was born c 1840 she doesn't show up too readily in 1841.

In 1881, Sarah, bc. 1863,  is a servant (aged 20) at The Royal Hotel, Llangollen. Maybe a marriage for her would give some clues.

Gadget

There are no obvious marriages in this area,  I found some further afield before 1892 but on checking for the married names in the matches none of them fit .

Picking up that Mary Corbett was a servant when she married there is a 13 year old servant in Bromyard Herefordshire in 1851 called Mary Corbett.

Might be worth finding her if poss in 1841 to see if with father Thomas.
Birthplace down as Bromyard Herefordshire.

the problem is that we have no idea where she was from.
it reminds of the song "Cotton eye Joe"  - where did  she come from - where did she go  ;)

Hi,

I'm Annie Hornsbys great, great granddaughter and I'm confused about her birth.

The Llangollen birth records aren't transcribed yet; but I have found the birth of Mary Anne.

Is this the same person? Do you think she just 'forgot' her real name?

And did you solve the problem of mother Mary?

Thanks
