Hi

I'm trying to find the burial location for a Richard Rochfort. The information that I have about him is as follows:

Richard Rochfort
Born - 1782
Married - 1804 (Maria)
Died - 07/11/1831
Age - 49
Location of death - Britwell House, Oxon
History - Served with these regiments - 29th Dragoons, 10th Dragoons, 8th Dragoons, 58th Foot, Newfoundland Fencibles and Army depot on Isle of Wight.
Was also awarded a silver medal by the Royal Humane Society.
Became a British consul in Ostend, Embden and consul general in East Friesland.

After that, I can't find anything. Assuming he was buried locally, the only place I can find with Google is St. Nicholas Britwell Salome, but need confirmation. Thanks.

There's an entry in the Middlesex Burials for a Richard ROCKFORT residence Brittlewell House, Oxfordshire 12/11/1831 but gives his DOB as 1770 and age at death 61  ???

The parish is Little Stanmore, Middlesex.

Assuming this your man have you tried googling to see what churches are in the area?

There's St Lawrence's - website http://www.little-stanmore.org/

The Oxford Journal, 7 Nov 1831, reported that he died at "Clifford St, London" - age not given.

This may be the one, although the dates aren't the same. My brother (who I doing this for) also came up with Little Stanmore. He's just waiting on confirmation, so will keep you posted. Thanks to those that contributed.

2 years on I have just discovered this topic!

I suspect that steamship's Richard Rochfort may have some connection with my wife's Mark Rochfort (c1730-1800) of Welchstown (par. of Lusk) & Jamestown (par. of Lea).  Mark is believed to be connected to the family of the Earls of Belvedere.

Has anyone got proof that Richard the soldier and Richard the consul are one and the same, and possibly a place of birth for him/them?  Any Rochfort family help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

How about this:

"On the 7th instant, in Clifford-street, Lieut.-Colonel Richard Rochfort, of Brettwell House, Oxon, late his Majesty's Consul-General at East Friesland. "

He seems to have been the son of Col Gustavus Rochfort who is listed in Irish directories and whose will was proved in an Irish court.  So possibly born in Ireland.

There was a case about administration of the estate.  https://goo.gl/m9G5SN
