enerijohn  once you got past 1881 you should have looked for a death cert which gives you everything. Gideon died 17-12-1891 aged 58yrs at 28 trinity street hawick wife of ELIZABETH MILLER  and his parents were James MURRAY and ELIZABETH SHIEL  and the witness. was a son also called GIDEON.

 Thank you for the information on Gideon's death date. I took advantage of Ancestry's free weekend look up but was unable to locate Gideon or his wife Elizabeth's death!! Using Gideon's name I have requested a grave search for them at Wilton. This search with Roots chat has been way too easy that I am considering renewing my family search. Thank you once again.  :)

Thank you. My Gideon Murray was listed as a Woolen Powerloom Tuner in 1878. probably advanced his learning of the trade. It would be interesting to find out which tweed manufacturer he worked for.  I will check the two censuses you have given.  :)

I now have quite a lot of information regarding Mary Ann Murray. Looking for son Gideon and wife Janet who are listed on the 1881 census but not the 1901. A 'Clare' is also looking for this family if she should see this message me please.
