RAMC Plaque.
« on: Thursday 21 August 14 20:48 BST (UK) »
I'm not sure if I've posted this is in the right place.
I recently got a bunch of old family heirlooms/bit and pieces. I think this belonged to my great uncle though I'm not too sure.

It reads:

Enugu - Nigeria.
1942 - 1943.
Royal Army Medical Corps.
36WA General Hospital.
West African Forces.

It's roughly 45cmx38cm

Does anyone know why he would have this or where I can find out more information?

The Army Medical Services Museum should have some information on the hospital.  Try this:

Presumable this is a keepsake,  a memento perhaps presented to someone who served in the RAMC at the hospital  in 1942-3.

There's an interesting recollection of that period here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar/stories/56/a3654056.shtml
