I can see no document at the National Archives www.nas.gov.uk for a Fatal Accident Inquiry for Henry. The newspaper report and death certificate might be all the story you can discover.

Where was Henry living at the time of his death?

Josey

FAI's are rare, even today, but I would agree that the newspapers, especially local ones, might be the best source of any additional details.

As Henry lived in Coatbridge, there's also a chance he could be buried in Old Monkland Cemetery in Coatbridge.

His religion wouldn't particularly matter as most cemeteries cater for religious denominations of all sorts.

In the case of an R.C. burial, the plot (part of a section or a whole section) would have been previously consecrated.

There may have been an article in the Coatbridge and Airdrie Advertiser (the local newspaper), copies of which can be viewed on microfilm at Airdrie Library, see: http://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=19574

Thanks again to all of you.

I have just visited the Scotland's People centre in Edinburgh and received a copy of the corrected entry for my Henry.

Thank you all for all your help.  It is very much appreciated especially since I live in Yorkshire.  Would any of you be able to tell me where Henry may have been buried?  He was a Roman Catholic.

Thanks again
Peramar

He is indeed in St Joseph's. The lair book entry gives his place of death as 14 Wellwynd. He is buried in plot 948. There is one other person in that plot from my records. Elizabeth McKeown (48) who died 16/5/1894. Address of death is given as 429 Main Street, Coatbridge.

Hi Chris

Thanks you so much for that information.  Can you tell me where my Grandparents, Henry and Alice McKeown might be buried?  They both died in 1953, their address was Edinburgh Road, Baillieston and they were both Roman Catholics.

Thanks again

hi Peramar,

Ive just started the next book, which covers the Eastside plots.

Alice McKeown, died 11 June 1953 and was buried in the 13th in St Josephs. It gives her age as 71 and her address as 205 Edinburgh Road, Baillieston.  She is buried in Section G Plot 360.

Henry died on 27th of July that year and was buried in the same plot as Alice a day later. He was 73.

Regards

Hi Chris

Thank you so much for that information.  Are you transcribing the records?  I must have many more ancestors/relatives buried there so would be interested in purchasing any records etc.

Thanks again

Hi Peramar,

Your welcome. Im a voluntary transcriber of the lair books for North Lanarkshire Council Archives. I can give you any information from the books, but purchasing a copy of the records would have to be done through the Archives office in Motherwell.
