William Whitehouse 36th foot regiment

Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone could please help me find some information out about William Whitehouse?

All I know about my William Whitehouse is that he married a Catherine Cain/Kain/Kane in 1856 Western Australia, there is some news paper reports of a William and Catherine Whitehouse on TROVE around this time, The William Whitehouse was from the 36th foot regiment.
Note: how would I look up the regiment?

I have found a web site with some info on it link http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C8749083?descriptiontype=Full&ref=WO+97/535/126

it said that William Whitehouse was discharged at aged 40.

William and Catherine then moved to South Australia, William died in 1878 age 65. on his death certificate he is listed as a seaman.

so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about William from Frome, Somerset and maybe a bit about his family and when he left for Australia.

can anyone help?

hi all I know it has been sometime but I have some new information.
thank you to all the people who help me out before.

William Whitehouse was married in 24 March 1856 to Catherine Cane
name                         condition            rank                 father
William Whitehouse      widower         Pensioner       Richard Whitehouse
Catherine Cane            widow               -----            Michael Cane

I have William Whitehouse army records they don't say much really.
William enlisted at the age of 19 in 1832 he was born around Froame (I guess Frome) Somerset
that is about all the information if gives me.

I have had a look at FreeREG I can not find William's birth.
I have found 2 people that could be his brother and sister.

James Whitehouse Baptism Date 21 Jul 1810 Church St John the Baptist Father Richard Whitehouse
Mother Sarah

Elizabeth Whitehouse Baptism Date 29 Oct 1814 Church St John the Baptist  Father Richard Whitehouse Mother Sarah

if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated   :)
