phillys loveridge. trying to find her birth.
« on: Monday 01 September 14 13:43 BST (UK) »
I wander if any one could help me please. I am trying to find either a baptism or birth reg for phyllis. She was born about 1930. She always believed her birth date was 8 th may 1930. But she never had a birth certificate. She died in 2004. Her daughter has asked me to find her birth. She was born in luton on Dallow lane. I don't know the nearest church to that maybe she was baptised there. Her parents were Joseph and Amadine loveridge. Her brothers and sisters were all registered so I am sure she was. There is a thought that she may have been registered with a different name. There other children were Cinderella bn 1913, Job bn 1915, Israel 1918, Queenie 1921, Charlie 1923, Nelson 1927, then Phyllis, last child Annie 1931.
There is a couple of possibles born in beds, Ivy 1925 and Violet 1930. There is also a couple of possibles registered in Herts. Sylvia 1930 and violet 1930.
Any help which could help me work out or find her would  be great.
Thanks so much tracey

I wander if that is her. Coventry is a long way from beds and I don't think they travelled that far. Would be out of there area. Although they were travellers most travellers tended to stay in an area, so yes herts, beds and Essex would be there area, possibly there could be a reason for visiting another county, field work or a fair but most did stay in there district. But could be worth getting the certificate just to see. Will have a look to see if there is any more info on this particular Phyllis. I wander if they had her baptised locally. Thanks so much. Tracey

It is 61 miles. hum. She knew she was born in this Dallow lane, Luton where  ever that is so seems odd they would have had her, then gone to Coventry to register her. Will check the fair book see if there was anything going on in that area. if she was born in December couldn't have been hopping or field work.

Hmmm? I thought travellers . . . travelled? ;D

What I would add is: How did she know she was born at Dallow Lane, Luton?
Could the person who told her have been confused?
