St: Peter & St: Paul Parish Church. - WING RUTLAND
« on: Thursday 04 September 14 21:05 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am trying to find all the Hardings that are buried in this church.
I have two Thomas and Jane that I think were married
Thomas has a burial no 360
Jane 334
Does this burial number mean that the church yard has been indexed.
If so where are the records  likely to be.
As I live in Sheffield I am trying to get all the info as possible before I have a trip there soon.
Any info would be appreciated so I don't have to wander around the church with camera hoping to stumble upon a Harding gravestone.

Thank You
Pete

This may give you some further information http://dustydocs.com/link/31/33713/112845/baptisms-1700-1850-marriages-1630-1839-burials-1839-1850.html

Burial numbers are likely from the numbering of the parish record book. Freereg has not transcribed many Rutland records and Wing is not transcribed by them, although you should be able to purchase a CD of bmd for Wing ( and other places in Rutland) from the L&RFSH

Have found a few more Hardings bu in Wing :-
I agree Thomas and Jane were married according to 1841 census. They had daughters Jane and Caroline.

Other burials are:
Mary Ann 14/4/1862  bu no 324
Lois 12/6/1845  202
Horatio 8/6/1856  279
Harry  18/11/1866  358
Eleanor 19/4/1870  387
Ann  24/6/1845  203
Jane  12/3/1845 (aged 24  197)likely to be Thos & Jane's daughter
Mary Elizabeth  2/2/1860  306
Henry  22/1/1860  304
Henry Branston 13/1/1841  162
Elizabeth Ann 25/7/1845  206

They may not all have headstones of course.
Happy hunting.

Please do wander around the church with camera hoping to stumble upon a Harding gravestone.
That is how you will find information never even thought about.

Take your time breath in the atmosphere wander round the churchyard and go into the church, look round sit in the pews. Walk where your ancestors walked during their lives.
I have never visited this church but there may even be transcripts of burial registers on display in the church (some churches have these).

Open your mind to your ancestors and open your heart, don't just clinically research the facts but imagine what it would be like visiting the church all those years ago. In other words walk in your ancestors shoes for an hour or so.
Cheers
Guy

Hello
I have decided to spend a day next week looking around the church in Wing.
Also to look at some parish registers and poor law records.
Could you please tell me where the nearest records office is in relation to Wing so I can ring and make arrangements to view them.

Thank you
Pete
