daniel mc gonagle

Hello looking for some help in finding information on a Daniel McGonigle who left inistrahull island off the north Donegal (Ireland)) coast in 1867/68 He travelled to New Zealand. Would love to get some leads regard residence, marriage etc.

Hi,

So far I have only found one Daniel McGonigle/McGonagle:

A death for Daniel McGonagle in 1918, aged 39 years.

A marriage not found............

However an entry found for the arrival in New Zealand of Daniel McGonigle, wife and three children (Donegal) as assisted immigrants on the 'Blue Jacket' which sailed on June 15.

Reply #1 can be discounted as this Daniel McGonagle was the third son of Denis McGonagle, killed in action on 12.10.1918.

Death notice in the 'Evening Post' dated 26.10.1918.

His WW1 file includes his will. Everything left to his sister, Miss Mary Ellen McGonagle.

Further to my reply #2, the newspaper item lists Mary, Catherine, Elizabeth and Rose McGonigle separately from their parents; under "Single Women, Domestic Servants". All from Donegal.

Their father Daniel is shown as being a "farm labourer".

There is also a D. McGonigle, "labourer", listed under "Single Men". However he is shown as coming from Northumberlandshire, which may be an error as to include him we would have a full house. See reply #4.

Apart from their arrival details, I have so far not found any further "footprints" in New Zealand for this family.

Young Daniel was tranferred from Page 3 (families and children) to page 16 (single men)on the manifest and the girls Elizabeth,Mary,Catherine and Rose were transferred to page 18 (single women)
