Normoyle/Normile - O'Connor/Conner
« on: Tuesday 09 September 14 17:41 BST (UK) »
Hello,

My Normoyle Family came to Canada about 1865/66 my gg grandfather and grandmother Michael Normoyle (born abt 1846) and Bridget O'Connor (born abt 1847) according to their headstones were both from Limerick.

I have been able to find an outline of their marriage record from St John's RC in 1865.

On that record their names are spelled Normile and Connors.

It lists their fathers as Edward Normile and John Connors.

Both my gg grandparents I believe were baptised at St John's RC

Michael's baptism lists his father as Edmund Normile.

This is the only information I have on the Normoyle's outside of Canada.

If anyone else has been researching this family, I'm hoping you could share some information.  For example their mother's names and the names of any siblings.

That might get me over the wall that I have hit.

Anything helps.

Thanks in advance,

~Keith

... Michael's baptism lists his father as Edmund Normile ...

And what does the baptism list as his mother? For example, the RootsIreland website search index shows a Patrick Normile baptised in St. John's in 1850 to father Edward and mother Johanna, is this a sibling?

I've never seen the baptism myself.  I was just told on another forum that the record existed.  It didn't indicate a mother's name.  As for siblings; Family legend says Michael came to Canada with a brother but that's all I know.  I know that Michael had sons named Patrick and Edward but I never assumed Edward was named after his father because Michael also had a grandson named Edmund.

Patrick Normile may be a sibling and Johanna may be his mother so I appreciate the info because I will definitely look into this further.
