Usk gaol records
« on: Wednesday 10 September 14 07:59 BST (UK) »
Hiya,

Does anyone know whether there are any records of prisoners from usk gaol?

My 3x great nan was sent there in 1907 for 3 months hard labour (she was a drunk and charged with child neglect)

Thank you in advance, Lisa x

Hi Lisa -- just wondered if you had any luck with that? I am searching for Usk gaol records from 1920 and am still searching!
All the best,
Frank

Hello
Gwent archives have the receiving books for earlier years complete with mug shots so that seems to be the place to go.
Prisoners Books 1871-1876 Ref Q/CG/38-40

Their e-mail is
enquiries@gwentarchives.gov.uk

They don't seem to have a on line catalogue search
