Emmaville Newspapers Hughes and Riley
« on: Friday 12 September 14 07:12 BST (UK) »
Hi  there

I  have a death  that  ocured in  Emmaville  in 1954  and was  wondering  if there was a  newspaper  in  Emmaville  or  Glen Innes  that might  have a funeral notice  or death notice.

Riley  Madge  died 6th February, 1954 and was buried in Emmaville
there is a headstone  for  her as Madge Hughes.

Next to her is Robert Hughes  who died 9th January, 1960

many thanks Jenn

Glen Innes Examiner newspaper is available at NSW State Library http://www.rootschat.com/links/019zu/
Maybe try "Ask A Librarian" http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/services/ask/index.html?HomeLink=Ask_A_Librarian

I  received an  email  back  from the state libray  saying  no  funeral  or death notices  appeared in the Glen Innes  Examiner  ofr either  party   :(

But  the value of a  certificate can never be underestimated

I  received a copy  of  Hercules  Riley  and  Maud Rummery  and  her  parents are Steven Rummery and Amy Ann Skinner.

Maud/Madge may  never have know  that she was born  before her  parents marriage, which  the NSW records  show she was....

Hercules and  Maud  never seem  to  have divorced and she  has  had  several children  under  the  name of Hughes and Doolan  and  recorded also as Riley....

thanks  to  those  who  helped especially  Sparret

regards Jenn

Hi,
Looking at Emmaville site, seen your info. There are Riley's still there and i noticed that you also mentioned Rummery, that was the name of my grandmother's mother on fathers side. The name was changed from Rommel (German) at the breakout of ww1. There was two brothers, Jacob and the other i cant remember and a sister, Anna. The boys had a Oxen team and one job was to bring a school building from Grafton (nsw) to Stannom.
Yours Frendo.

Hi Jenn,

My grandfather's mother was Madge Doolan Riley.  His name was Robert James Hughes.  His birth certificate lists him as Robert James Riley.  No father is listed on the birth certificate
I'm trying to find out who grandad's real father was?  Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

Trudi Hughes
