Cronin's
« on: Tuesday 16 September 14 14:52 BST (UK) »
Hello all,
I have an Elizabeth Cronin  1809-18 from cork she is the daughter of a John Cronin Labourer. Elizabeth is already living in England in the 1830s as both her eldest daughters, Margaret and Mary Harrington are both born in Southwark. 1, Mary 1835 and Margaret 1837 the family are living in white hind alley. Elizabeth is living with a Jeremiah Harrington and they have a son Jeremiah in 1840, I cannot find a marriage for them. This same year Jeremiah Harrington Snr. dies  :'(.  3 years later she marries a George Plunkett in a catholic Belgium chapel in Holborn, Elizabeth states spinster  :-X on her Marriage cert, they have a daughter Sarah Plunkett. George doesn't last long and dies a couple of years later.  :'( In 1851 Elizabeth is living with a Michael O'Connor No marriage. :o BY 1861 she is living in Marylebone with Jeremiah Harrington and Sarah Plunkett, strangely she is on census as Elizabeth Harrington and not Plunkett.   ??? Any ideas on this lady please, she is my 3 x great grandmother.

                               Kind regards

Do you know where in Cork your Cronins were from?

No sadly
like my Scottish ancestors they only put Ireland on census, only once did Elizabeth indicate Cork.

The surnames Cronin and Cotter in Cork are like Smith and Jones everywhere else. ::)
