James McCann (son of John & Margaret) emigrated to Australia in 1856 with his wife Mary (nee Hughes, daughter of Henry  & Jane) & their 8 children: Mary JAne (1838), Margaret (1840), John (1842), Elizabeth(1844), Ann(1846), Sarah(1847), Henry(1850) & James(1856). Would like to know from where in Armagh they came from

James would have been born about 1812/1813. As at Dec 1856, when he arrived in Australia with his wife Mary & 8 kids, both his parents (John & Margaret) had died.

Hi Audrey

I noticed you listed James William McCann b. 1874 in C. Armagh - parents: Edward McCann & Sophia Edmond.

Edward & Sophia are my Great Great Grandparents.  Their daughter, Lucinda Jane McCann (b. appox 1864), migrated to Australia in 1883 but on her death certificate, her mother is listed as Sophia Redmond.

Can you please tell me how you ascertained James McCann's details of his birth & parents?  I'm trying to track down details on this particular McCann lineage.

If you have any other details relating to James McCann, Edward McCann & Sophia - that would be terrific!

Thanks for the info Audrey...  Is there any listing for children of Edward McCann & Sophia Redmond?  Redmond is the correct surname but I think it was mis-spelt on the certificate.  May also be mis-spelt as Edmont...

Specifically seeking their children - Lucinda Jane, Elizabeth, Robert David, Samuel and Arthur.  Also -  any marriage record.
