Beetham marriage JACKSON + NELSON
« on: Friday 19 September 14 19:11 BST (UK) »
I know there probably won't be much more information than I have already, but if anyone is going to Kendal Records i would be really grateful if you could have a look for the original parish entry of the marriage of:

JOHN JACKSON AND ISABELLA NELSON, 12 January 1807 in Beetham.

Names of witnesses or age of either of them - anything at all that might possibly help me in my quest to find out more about John Jackson's origins.

Thank you!!!! :)

John was recorded as a husbandman and Isabel as a spinster, both of Arnside Tower.

Hi

Ages were not shown on marriage entries at that time.  The most you may get would be "full" (ie) over 21yrs or "minor"
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Thank you so much for looking - are you linked in to this family too in some way?  I have found all the information you offer  and have quite a lot more on  Mary Ann (daughter of John and Isabella) who was my ancestor.

When I posted my original request I was looking for more to help me identify John Jackson - it is such a common name in that partof the world, and I don't quite have enough to work out which one he might be.  I'd love to know who his parents were.  And how he came to be at Arnside Tower - by birth or employment?

The most likely one I have found is a baptism in 1782 in Heversham, father Samuel, mother Rebecca - but I would like to be more sure that it is him.

There are Jacksons as Arnside Tower but their John's birthdate is 6 years out (and both the '41 census and his death cer point to him being born in 1782), and there are Jacksons at Witherslack and Silverdale too.  It's hard when you go that far back.
