Sara family
« on: Monday 29 September 14 15:53 BST (UK) »
I am interested in the Sara family, emanating from Falmouth, Cornwall in the late 1800s, ie Herbert, Herman, Frederick, Myrtle etc.   My connection is with my mother's Cornish  Nicholls and Olive families who moved to Hull and area, where a 91 y/o aunt is still alive. We have some photos and history, but she lost contact decades ago. Would be interested in fleshing out the ones in 20th century; some lived around Manchester, Cheshire, Lincoln.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi
Can you give us a name and date of one of the members of the family please? Not a person still living.

Heather

Hi

The 1911 census index has 17 entries for the Sara surname living in various parts of Lancashire but only 2 entries have a Cornwall birthplace- are either of those entries your ancestors

The 1901 has 19 entries but only 4 were born in Cornwall

Thanks. It is the post 1920s that will help me really, and probably family members that will provide any leads.  There are family trees etc on Ancestry, but I am not a full member.
Herman Sara b 1861.  Died 12/1939 Bucklow, Cheshire.  He had 3 sons:
Denzil Olive Sara, b1889, m 1915 Olive M Joslin at Braintree, Essex.
Herman Stephen Sara, b 1892, m 1920 Fanny Robinson at Lincoln. died 22/1/1957 Barton Lincs.
Frederick Joseph Herbert Sara b 1896. May have died at Manchester in 1980.  Possibly single, although there is a marriage 1919 at London to Renate F Altmann.
Denzil had a daughter Myrtle Olive Sara, b 1919 Colchester.  Married 1946 to Bernard Goldsmith at Cardiff.  She died1979 Plymouth; had 3 boys, one called David b 1950 Exeter, and a daughter Susan.
Herman had a son Peter G Sara, b 1926 Manchester. May have married 1952 to Josephine Maud McLoughlin.

Tellme -

It's great when a living relative pops up out of the blue. Do you already know the person who posted this topic, I wonder, or is it the start of some great discoveries?

Hello mikecharles49. Are you still interested in finding out about the Sara and Olive families? My father, Peter Sara, is 89 and I am keen to find out as much as I can about his ancestors for him. I would be very happy to help you with any information I can provide about our mutual families.
Thank you
