Thank you!

I just hope thats the families of these soldiers find this message.  Seeing how much my granddad benefitted from being able to see his brothers grave and saying a proper goodbye made me want to allow those who cannot get to Austria to be able to have a similar experience through one of my photographs.

Best Wishes

The Cemetery is in Klagenfurt which is the capital of the Austrian province of Carinthia.  Klagenfurt Cemetery is situated in Annabichl, a suburb of Klagenfurt and can be found about 2.5km north of the city centre on the way to Vienna.  The British military plot is numbered 17 and is located behind the Austrian National Memorial rotunda (babylon) all within this large town cemetery.  Klagenfurt Cemetery contains 57 non-war service burials and 2 German civillians are also buried in the same plot.

Plot 17 can be found by turning directly left as you enter the cemetery and following the path round through the Austrian graves until you see a green and the rotunda, the graves are directly behind.

Many also have messages from family engraved on the base of the headstone.  I also took a (kind of) 3 photo panoramic view of the graves, so you can have a better view of the surrounding area.

If anyone does ever get the chance visit please do so as it is an amazing (although quite sad) experience.

Many visitors may be elderly, there are plenty of seats within the cemetery and a coffee shop just across the road.  Also opposite is a flower shop which sells candles as well which can be planted/left at the graves.

The cemetery is a beautiful, peaceful place, surrounded by trees and flowers, habitated by red squirrels and hundreds of birds.  It is a truely spectacular place, the graves are meticulously cared for by the many staff and by the families of the Austrians buried there.

I hope the families of these soliders can take peace in my photos and and know that their loved ones are in a beautiful place and well cared for.

On alllegs request I am making this "sticky" for a while, to give everybody a chance to see it.

Please pass this information on to anybody who might be interested, because, as she said,

"I don't what my photo's to go to waste."
