Birth/baptism of Edward Turner 1844 Ruthin
« on: Thursday 02 October 14 16:05 BST (UK) »
I have 2 Edward Turner's in my family tree, both born in 1844. The first Edward was the son of Thomas Turner and Jane (nee Evans) and I have tracked his birth down to Pwllheli (Volume 27 page 401).I am fairly certain that this Edward is an ordinary seaman on the vessel Albert in 1861(census).I cannot find him after 1861 though.

The second Edward Turner is the son of Richard Turner and Elizabeth. In the 1851 and 1861 census returns he is listed as residing in Bailey Head, Oswestry, with his parents. His birthplace is listed as Ruthin, with his age showing he must have been born in 1844 or 1845.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Turner - Caernarvonshire, Denbigshire, Merionethshire, Shropshire & Staffordshire
Craig - Glasgow and Co. Antrim
Evans - Merionethshire & Caernarvonshire
Williams - Caernarvonshire & Merionethshire
Neeson - Co. Antrim
McCormick - Glasgow
Costello - Glasgow

I can't see a birth of the second Edward, maybe this is him and wife with his parents in 1871

Thank you Kay, yes that is the one. I now have him in the 1881, 1891 and 1991 census returns as well. It just seems to be his birth I am stuck with. I am assuming birthplace is Ruthin, I see on the link it mentions a place called Rushton as well. Thank you for looking. I do appreciate it.

Glad you found them - the couple didn't move far :)

Edit - It is possible that Rushton was a mistranscription of Ruthin looking at the image

Thank you Kay, I will keep searching. At one point I thought that there may only be one Edwardwho had gone to live with relatives. But I am now certain that there are 2 Edward's.
