Scobbies of Falkirk
« on: Thursday 02 October 14 16:42 BST (UK) »
Hi,
My grandmother was Mary Scobbie born, the youngest of 7 children, at 40 Roberts Wynd, Falkirk in 1901. Her parents were Charles and Jane (nee Binnie). Her mother died when she was 4 and her father remarried the year later and the 1911 census shows the new family living in Wilsons Close. Have found out quite a lot about her, but she spent most of her life in Warwickshire, England where she died in 1970 and I believe she had lost touch with her family in Scotland.
I made a trip to Falkirk recently and got caught up in the history. It made me wonder if there are any descendants of this side of my family still living in the area. My Mother and Aunt (her daughters)are in their 80's now and know very little about their family history.
My Gran's siblings were Susan, William, Andrew, Jane Laird, Janet and Charles.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.

Thank you so much for this!
You have given me loads to look into.
It's a bit daunting when you first start, but I'm delighted

Hi,

Alexander Gow   Son In Law   M   M   31   Iron Labourer   Muiravonside

mentioned above in the 1881 Census for Glen Village was the husband of

Jane Gardner Laird Scobie b. 6 Oct 1850 Bothkennar

I thought you might be interested to learn that Alexander and Jane also appear on my family tree.
Alexander was the brother of my Great Great Grandfather James Gow (1855-1921).

Good luck with finding those Scobbies.

All the best,

G67
