Hatton family from Fazeley
« on: Tuesday 07 October 14 19:08 BST (UK) »
Hi, Can someone help me with the Hatton family from Fazeley Staffs. I think the period I am looking at Fazeley was in Warwickshire. In 1887 Alfred was charged by his father Thomas of stealing. I'm having trouble finding out who Thomas' siblings are and Alfred's siblings, I can't quite find a tie-in. Can anyone help please? thanks

See your problem - I can find an Alfred in Fazeley, but son of William, b Measham, Derbyshire and Elizabeth.  There's a Thomas Hatton b Measham in Fazeley in 1861, who appears from 1841 to be William's brother. he's in Wilnecote, Warwickshire by 1881

William is a baker, Alfred and Thomas are cotton weavers, if that helps

In the 1887 newspaper article about a Thomas Hatton prosecuting his son Alfred, Thomas' occupation is given as "bricklayer". The item also mentions Alfred has a sister.

1881 Census ref RG11  2688  9  9

Thomas Hatton, age 43, occpn Raily Foreman Bricklayer + wife Sarah, 46, sons Frederick 18, Alfred 11 and daughter Agnes 7.
Address 16 Railway Street, parish of Castle Church, reg. dist. Stafford

Possibility?

Hi, Thank you all for looking it seems that it isn't my line. Mabel was on the right line but it seems the others aren't related. Although the outcome is not what I wanted it has at least resolved the question. Thank you again for the information. Snowy ;D

Hi, Can I ask a question or two about the Hatton family. Edwin or Edward and Annie Hatton who lived at 35 Coleshill street had quite a few children, the first was Charles Hatton born in 1890, I think. His middle name is the question, I've seen it written as Charles O Hatton and Charles Horace Hatton, is this just the way you say it like 'orace?
Also I can't find out who his sister Sarah Elizabeth Daisy Hatton married, she was born in 1901 so I assume she married around 1920. She used the name Daisy. Thanks

Hello Cousin,

I've been catching up on your efforts to pin down our Fazeley folks.  Just found that Charles' birth in 1890 was registered as Charles HARRIS Hatton - Harris, Horace, Orace!  I think Daisy may have married Cyril E Cooke in 1932 - there is a marriage between Sarah Elizabeth D HATTON and Cyril in Tamworth which looks promising.

There is also a death registration in Lichfield Mar 1982 - Sarah Elizabeth D COOKE b. 9 Nov 1901.  So would seem to fit.
