Hi,
I'm only doing free searches so please don't worry.

Another wee question ....where is Rosanna and who is she with on 1881 Census? I can't find her (scratch my head  ???  )

Looby :)

Searching doesn't cost anything and I had a few  credits for the death certs.

I don't know if you have come across the Hewitson One Name Study indexes of Birth deaths and marriages that may be of interest http://www.johnstark.org/fh/hewitson/hewitsonframe.html?hewitson-m-1870-1879.html

I can't find any of them on the 1881 census either -  and I will give a good look at the one name study - never thought to look for that - I should have though - as Jenny married (marriage never found) Thomas Austin Mayall -  and the Mayall name has been done through the same guild - that's how it was confirmed to me that the recently late Rik Mayall (Richard Michael) was my 6th cousin once removed and John Mayall of the Bluesbreakers (google him) was my 6th cousin.
Rik Mayall kept popping up in my searches and I kept dismissing it - I thought he was manic but my son loved him.

What a fab connection to a real character  ;D.
Can't find Rosanna on 1881 anywhere . Could they have been in England?

I believe John and Jane with family - Mary, Annie, Anthony, Jessie, James and Jane are in Girthon , Kirkcudbrightshire on 1881 Census. Name is transcribed as  HEWATSON.

But no Rosanna Hewatson??

Just had a thought regarding Roseanna (various spellings)   I never found a marriage for her and Anthony Hewitson - could her death be recorded as Roseanna McGinnies
