Hi all.

michelew,  Is Rosanna living alone on the 1891 Census at Anwoth?

Added  - And do you know if she had family which lived outside Kirkcudbrightshire?

You wont believe how much you have moved me on with this line - unbelievable -  it now appears my ancestors were from England and not Scotland !!!

Glad it's been of use  ;D However Rosanna is a real stumbling block

Looby - I think Rosannah is living with her son John and family in 1891 in Anwoth as below

John Hewitson 48
Jane Hewitson 48
Anthony Hewitson 17
James Hewitson    11
Roseanna Hewitson 78

Thanks Kay,

I've been looking on SP even for an elderly Rosanna's death anywhere after 1891, but the ones I'm turning up are definitely not this lady!
Very odd....where can she be??

Just found the death of another child of Anthony and Frances

John Hewittson age 78 in 1899 in Anwoth,  He was a woodcutter married to Elizabeth Shannon and parents listed a Anthony Hewittson Woodcutter (Dec) and Frances (Maiden name Hairsnape)

I assume that John Hewtison (son of Anthony and Rosannah) and his family are still in Anwoth in 1901?
If so the likelihoodshould be that Rosannah died in that 10 year period. Of course she may have been moved away....
Still having no joy with locating her  :'(

Hi again

I hope you are not using any units on Scotlands people to fund these searches -   I have just purchased more and I don't want it to cost you anything - you are really kind for helping me.
