Rev John Jones B.A. of Menai Bridge 1874 & Llannor, Carn. and others
« on: Saturday 11 October 14 16:20 BST (UK) »
At the wedding of my great grandfather, Thomas Morgan Jones, on 8th January 1874 in Newport, Pembs., his brother is referred to as "Rev John Jones B.A. Menai Bridge, brother of the bridegroom."
The UK Clergy List for 1897 appears to list John as Vicar of Llandysillio Gogo, CARD(IGAN) from 1872 to 1879. My suggestion/query is that this is incorrect and they should have stated ANGLESEY. Rev John had been at Llanfaes w Penmon in 1871-2.
Rev John died in 1917 in Llanwnnog, Mont.
I am trying to piece his life together, so any information about him will be much appreciated.
He married Jane Mathias in 1882 in Cardigan, I believe.
Thanks
Richard PJ

Think this is him in 1881 - RG11, 5557, 10, 1. Vicar of Llannor and Penrhos, Caernarfonshire (Pwllheli district). Age and place of birth fit those of the vicar of Llanwnog in 1901 and 1911 (b c1841, Lampeter)

Thank you all. I found the obituaries and the 1881 Census, but I haven't found the 1861 and 1871 Census record for John Jones.
*
I found details of John and Jane's marriage in Welsh Newspapers online and don't think that the certificate could add anything else to that.
*
I know John died in 1917, but I don't know when Jane née Mathias died.
*
I'm uncertain as to what happened to his son John Arthur Jones, born about 1883, and his daughter Gwyneth Annie E Jones, born about 1893. I've made a lot of progress though, so thanks very much.
