Hi does anyone have access to the north cheshire memorial inscriptions that could possibly do me a look up?
George Oldfield died 1767 st Michaels, macclesfield

Hi Tom,

Stockport Heritage Library have the Monumental Inscriptions for Macclesfield St Michael's.
They start in 1767 but I'm not sure that they will take in the whole of that year.
You will find the contact address here, you will need to give them the date of his death/burial.

Oldfield of Macclesfield who
departed this life 30th of Marh
1812 aged 58 years. Likewise
the above named George -
Oldfield who departed this life
the 8th Jany 1824 aged 84 years

Nothing as good as the above - but they are available on find my past and he was buried on the 22nd April.

Mary Wife of Robert Lane
of Macclesfield who died Oct
10th 1793 aged 67 years
Also Robert husband of the
above Mary died June 19th 1791
aged 70 years

Underneath this stone we made our bed
Let not the living dig up the dead

This stone belongs to Thomas Underhill
of Macclesfield 1825

I wonder how Thomas Underhill came to own the stone some 30 years later? Not come across that name in his descendants - so far  ;)
