1940 Carmarthenshire Funeral Reports
« on: Thursday 23 October 14 05:41 BST (UK) »
Seeking information on the existence of any Archives containing 1940  Newspaper records of Funerals in Llanelli.
In particular I'm looking for the record of Elizabeth Magdalene BRYANT who's death aged 27 years was registered at Llanelli in the 3rd Quarter of 1940.  Burial at Llanelli on 11th July 1940

Carmarthenshire County Council Archive Service are good but at present need to be contacted through the library and new Archives being built in Carmarthen. Also the library holds newspapers on micro-fische.

Was she married?
There was no trace of Elizabeth Magdalene Bryant being born, so I searched for a marriage: Edwin R Bryant married Evans; registered Llanelly Vol 11a Page 2647. Then I looked and found Born: Jan-Mar 1913; Elizabeth M Evans; Mother Maiden Name: Harries; registered Carmarthen Vol 11a Page 2647

I went to Carmarthen Library and looked through microfiche of the 1940 Carmarthen Journal from 12 July to 22 November and found nothing. Llanelli is hardly mentioned, yet nearby Tumble is. More recently, Llanelli had a sister paper to the Journal called the Llanelli Star, but I do not know when it started and is not kept by Carmarthen Library.

Google says the Llanelli star was founded in 1909.
