Gibraltar 1750s - births, army family
« on: Thursday 23 October 14 18:09 BST (UK) »
Lieut Francis Lind was serving in the 14th Regiment of Foot in the 1750s when they were stationed in Gibraltar.
In February 1750 he was married in Carlisle, Cumberland to Elizabeth Farrer.  They had three sons, Montague, Francis and Edward George born at roughly two-yearly intervals, but no trace of birth or baptism has been found in IGI or other sources.  I think it possible that they were born in Gibraltar but have no clues about sources there.
Lieut Lind died in Gibraltar in 1759.  The sons were at Carlisle Grammar School from August 1760 to about 1766/7, and were  later in India for the East India Company.

Any suggestions for Gibraltar sources or contacts would be welcome.

Ainslie
