baptism look up John FREEMAN Completed
« on: Sunday 26 October 14 10:45 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find a baptism for John FREEMAN around 1812. According to 1861 census he was born in Chilworth, Oxon, although living since 1834 in Ickford, Bucks where he is a butcher. Presumably his baptism was somewhere in the Great Milton parish, although could be further afield? He was married to Rebecca MESSENGER at St Aldate's in 1833 (thank you again NDRFT).

Many thanks in advance

Following baptisms at Great Milton:

John Freeman 4 Oct 1812 s/o Richard & Sarah of Chilworth
Ann Freeman 17 Jul 1814 d/o Richard & Sarah of Chilworth labourer
Richard Freeman 27 Apr 1817 s/o Richard & Sarah of Chilworth labourer

No banns, marriage or burials for Richard & Sarah.

There is a burial for a Richard Freeman 24 Apr 1816 of Chilworth aged 1 month but no baptism for him here. Possible sibling of the other three above?

Thank you so much artifis! Richard and Sarah tie in with a family in Ickford in the 1851 census which I was wondering whether were related, they seem to have moved to Ickford and had more children there after 1819. Richard b1817 in Oxon is with them in 1851 so looking more likely. Census has Richard and Sarah as b in Bucks, so I'll start looking there.

Thank you again  ;D

There is a Thomas Freeman having children baptised at Great Milton at the same time as Richard and Sarah but he's indicated as coming from Great Milton.  Do you know if he might be related to Richard?  If so I can give you his children's details and see if I can find a marriage and baptism for him.

Thanks artifis, a quick check on familysearch shows a Richard bap 1780 (which fits the census) to George and Susannah, but can't see a Thomas amongst their other children. I think I'll follow this lead and try to find out some more about them. So thanks anyway, but I think I'll leave Thomas for now.  :)
