WW1 - Thornbury - Bromyard soldier
« on: Wednesday 29 October 14 07:40 GMT (UK) »
Dear Forum,

Seeking any local record acknowledging my Great Grand Uncles service in WW1. I have recently been informed that he served, I have no other details:

Percy Walter BASKERVILLE, born Leominster 1876 and died Bromyard 1917, resided at Ganderland Farm, Thornbury as a child and young adult.

Regards Jason. Note I have also posted in WW1 page to see what regiment he may have joined in the area.
HARRISON - Kidderminster/Leicester/Loughborough, BASKERVILLE - Bromyard, COOPER - Wareham, BARTLETT - Swindon Wiltshire, Swanage
COOPER - Corfe Castle, Swanage, Wareham, Steeple
PERRINS and PERK - Old Swinford

The only P W Baskerville, died 1917,  who comes up on CWGC is this man - although this has his name as Philip Walter:

Hi Jason, as you know he was 35 in 1911 single working on the farm and died aged 41 in the same locality. Anx don't have any war service records for him.
The National Archives may have something. If not, purchase the death certificate from GRO.
Cheers
