1841/51/61 census lookups, please: Joseph, Aaron & George Dunford
« on: Friday 01 July 05 20:26 BST (UK) »
Hello:
I made the mistake of assuming that, since we continue to maintain close ties with our Dunford relatives in Sussex, this family line would be relatively easy to research ... you know what they say about assumptions! ::)
My information is very limited, but this the family that I hope to find:
- Joseph Dunford, gamekeeper or similar, and father of:
- Aaron Dunford, born c.1825 at Gunville (Tarrant Gunville, I think) in Dorset.
- George Dunford, born c.1830 at either Barrow or Brockley in Somerset.
I think my best hope to find these three together is in the 1841 census because by 1849, Aaron had married (although I would dearly love to find the father, Joseph, in either the 1851 or 1861, too).  Aaron Dunford and Charlotte née Loader were our great-great grandparents.
This has proven to be our brick wall, and we have been scouting the parish records for the better part of a year, without any luck.  Any help cracking this family history/mystery will be greeted with nothing short of amazement ;D and, of course, my thanks.
Regards,
Alison Causton

Thanks [again  :) ], Allan.  I did not have this census item for Aaron & Charlotte and thankfully, it confirms the first three children (of six) that I have recorded.  (The fifth, Henry James, is our great-grandfather.)
I am still hopeful for an 1841 find of the father (Joseph) + two sons, Aaron and George.
Cheers from Nova Scotia on Canada Day,
Alison

Hi Alison,

I didn't notice that the two lookups I just did were both for you!  Hopefully someone with the 1841 census will be able to find you ggg Grandfather.

The wee'un in the photo is my younger daughter on the day she was born.  She's now nearly 8 months old so I really should update the photo so you can see her beautiful bule eyes :)

Have an enjoyable Canada Day!

Allan

Hi Alison, Well i reckon it would be worth you asking for a look up in 1841 somerset where George is from! at age 34 on the 61 he would be about 14 then! it is possible that they are still there as a family!  D x
