surname Bake
« on: Thursday 30 October 14 20:36 GMT (UK) »
Would someone be able to tell me anything about Walter Hugh Bake born Scotland c.1858.  The 1871 census lists Walter Bake aged 13 in Old Machar district.  I believe his parents were Walter Hugh and Christina, and he married Mary Hannah (?) with a son (Francis Walter Henry) an infant in 1884 when they arrived in Australia.  Thank you :)

The surname Bake seems to be rare in Scotland , apart from the 1871 Census result you have I have not found anything else.

So appreciate the great assistance.  I am wondering if Walter's father was may be a soldier (and had an affair with Christian) if there is no mention of Bake in Scotland.  I will search UK freebdm a bit further.  Walter called a daughter Christina, and another Augusta, which tie in with family names.   Thank you all. :)

You should be able to view the birth certificate on scotlandspeople. There may be information about his father.
